Student Poster Contest Expanded and Extended

IEEE SusTech 2016 Student Poster Contest Abstract Submission Deadline Extended to Friday, September 23, 2016 – Both Undergraduate and Graduate Students are Eligible

The fourth IEEE Conference on Technologies for Sustainability (SusTech), October 9-11, 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona at the Phoenix Airport Marriott, explores the development and application of science, engineering, and technology to promote sustainability. To meet present needs without compromising our future, advances in sustainable technology, policy and social behavior are essential.

IEEE’s Technologies for Sustainability Conference (SusTech) brings together individuals and organizations who want to promote and apply advances in sustainable technology that allows:

  • Eliminating or reducing dangers such as pollution, global warming, electronic waste and negative impacts to overall health;
  • Minimize the impact of agriculture, energy production, transportation and electronics’ manufacturing and recycling on the environment;
  • Increase operating efficiency by reducing the waste stream; and
  • Use fewer resources to produce the same or better outcomes

The conference explores the development and application of science, engineering and technology to promote sustainability. SusTech brings together technologists and scholars from multiple disciplines to learn about and collaborate on improving sustainable technologies. The program features workshops, keynotes and presentations of contributed papers and invited speakers on research, technologies, methodologies, tools and case studies. SusTech strives to provide attendees the tools, connections and proactive solutions to take their sustainability programs to the next level.

Topics covered at the SusTech 2016 Conference include Internet of Things, Smart Grid, eWaste, Renewable Energy, Water, Electronics, Energy Efficiency, Transportation, and Societal Implications of Technology.

SusTech 2016 invites undergraduate and graduate students to submit abstracts for the Student Poster Contest. Additional information is available here. (Download Poster Contest Updated PDF Flyer here.)

Students are invited to send in ideas or designs for developing projects/products supporting the sustainability topics areas of the Conference. The selected posters will be displayed during the SusTech 2016 Student Poster Session, on Sunday October 9, being held in Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

Poster authors must be either undergraduate or graduate students at the time of submission and may be members of a team comprising of up to four students.  At least one student author must be an IEEE student member at the time of the submission of the poster to the Contest. The poster should be fully the work of the student or students and completed before they have received their respective engineering or scientific degree.

To participate in the contest students should write a 2-page (500-700-word) description (abstract) of the poster, along with authors names, respective university and contact details; and submit it using the SusTech website by the specified deadline.

Abstracts should be submitted on the IEEE SusTech website using this web entry form.

WHEN IS THE DEADLINEcall-for-abstracts-poster-sustech-2016-updated
The final deadline to submit poster abstracts is midnight US Mountain Time, September 23, 2016.
Notification of acceptance will be sent out within two days of submission.

SusTech is an IEEE Region 6 conference hosted by IEEE Phoenix section, and is co-sponsored by the IEEE Phoenix and Oregon Sections, IEEE Region 6 and IEEE-USA. With technical sponsorship by the IEEE SSIT (Society for Social Implications of Technology). To register visit the SusTech registration webpage.
