Abstract:

A Handprint represents a positive contribution to the world. Jon Biemer, author of Our Environmental Handprints: Recover the Land, Reverse Global Warming, Reclaim the Future, will share the genesis of the Handprint idea, its attributes, and why it is valuable. He will tell stories showing how Handprints evolve from personal initiatives to changes in the system. Anyone can create Handprints – personally and professionally. In fact, many of us are already doing so.

Biography:

Jon Biemer studied electrical engineering as an undergraduate and mechanical engineering as a graduate student. He is registered as a Professional Mechanical Engineer in California. His primary employment was with Bonneville Power Administration as research coordinator and program manager in energy efficiency and solar energy. He also advised Portland Oregon’s Green Investment Fund and Water Bureau. As an environmental activist Jon supported ballot initiatives relating to Outdoor School and radioactive waste control. In 2013, he walked the length of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline. Earlier this year Jon Biemer published Our Environmental Handprints: Recover the Land, Reverse Global Warming, Reclaim the Future.
